On the first super Sunday of the season, Jimmy Garoppolo took his first L as a starter against the Minnesota Vikings. Facing a playoff contender, the Niners competed for most of the game but couldn’t overcome the combination of injuries, penalties, and errors.
Garoppolo threw three interceptions and looked flustered during the contest. He’s human and it was a humbling game versus a top 3 defense in the NFL.
Head Coach Kyle Shanahan will coach up his young QB throughout the week and the tough learning experience has a ton of upside for the long season ahead.
The emergence of rookie linebacker Fred Warner was amazing. The rookie accounted for 12 tackles per NFL.com and had his hands on the ball frequently. DeForest Buckner had two and a half sacks and continues his terror on opposing QBs. Lastly, Uncle Sherman played the entire game and is still a BMF.
Garoppolo and the Niners have a lot to be excited about but the Vikings gave them a first hand look at what’s needed to compete at a high level. Back to work.
